Playing like every move must give instant reward is a big mistake begginers make. I did that when I started. You rush to take a little advantage, thinking you’re smart, not knowing you’re exposing yourself long term. The problem is that the beginners don't think ahead. That’s why they always crash.
Strategy games know how to punish impatience badly.
 
Beginners are fond of rushing things. I did same thing when I started. There was a time I rushed into making decision and it affected everything. That’s when I learnt patience. These games punish you when you are too in a hurry mercilessly. You might think you’re smart, but you are not.
