Tactical Speedbump
If I'm playing an RTS for one hour, I want to see bases destroyed and armies wiped out, not one calculator deciding who wins. That said, score victories can punish those stubborn players that keep hiding units in corners of the map. We've all met those guys one way or the other. I dont want a match dragging forever because one player refuses to accept defeat. Conquest feels cleaner and more satisfying.
