I was playing one strategy campaign yesterday evening and something kept bothering me. People always say expand expand and expand, take every territory you see. But sometimes managing small but strong resources feels smarter than controlling everywhere and struggling to maintain it. It reminded me of real life activity. Sometimes, going small and being stable is better than having plenty of issues.

This really comes down to sustainability. A lot of players think expansion automatically equals power, but that’s only true if your systems can support it. Every new territory adds more things to manage. So if your economy is not strong yet, expansion actually creates more problems than the benefits.
