Hello everyone. My name is Ja sa bong. I'm happy to join this community. I'm a fan of movies, music, TV shows and playing video games especially RTS games. I'm currently playing Company of Heroes 3.
The history backing the real time strategy games is huge because so many games have been released in the franchise.
Sadly, so many of them have faded irrespective of their brilliance years ago which is why I believe some of them are due for a modern revival and comeback.
Which RTS games do...
Which race did you start playing with on StarCraft II because it's your favourite to choose and begin your journey in the game? Did you go for the strongest race in the game?
What made you choose one between Terran, Zerg and Protoss in StarCraft II?
Do you have any specific order in which you played the StarCraft II campaigns?
Did you choose each one randomly or there was a pattern to how you played Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void, and Nova Covert Ops campaigns?
Age of Empires IV is going to be my pick as my favourite RTS game of all time. I enjoyed how base-building, resource gathering/management, tech progression, asymmetrical civs and readable unit animations were all balanced in the game.
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void and Company of Heroes 3 would be my choice for the best RTS games of the last 10 years. Both of the games have kept the RTS game franchise competitively alive for years.
Dwarf Fortress is the most brutal city building or management game I've played. The learning curve of the game is a punishing hell. Making a single mistake in the game will result to a guaranteed death. I was broken once when the werebeast infected half my population, there was nothing I could...
It's Cities: Skylines I would consider the best and realistic city builders which have ever been made. Everything in the game feels so real with an impressive graphics perfect to details.
Unity of Command 2 is my favourite pick. Playing this game taught me how much a supply line is to winning a war. It's a game every victory or win is earned because nothing happens with luck in the game.
It's XCOM: Enemy Unknown which is the toughest tactical turn based game I've played. It's a very tense game with permadeath-driven combat and base management. It's an improved reboot of the classic X-COM game.
XCOM is one of the best tactical turn based games I've played but I'm going to choose The Banner Saga as the one which I enjoyed most because of its vikings related gameplay.
It depends on which RTS games the new player was introduced to first. There is simple RTS games where they are not expected to choked with too much micromanagement. Starting with the right is game is the key to understand and building a strong foundation in the genre.
Doing this right depends on a lot of things like your playing style, the enemies approach and the game's AI. If you factor all those variables into consideration, it will help you choose the best base-building strategy.
