RTS games are different, and it’s difficult for some gamers to pick up interest in them. These ones can focus on learning the basics first, like how to build units and manage your resources.

Once you've got those down, then they can start experimenting with different strategies.

We put out an episode about this a couple of months ago. Give it a listen and see if there is anything which resonates.

If a newbie jumps straight into something like StarCraft II multiplayer, they’ll uninstall it by the second day. So, someone new to the game should start by playing campaign first, enjoy the story, then try skirmish. That’s how I got into the Age of Empires II back then. If you rush it, you could be frustrated.

Starting with the campaign is not a compulsory path 😅. Some of us learn faster under pressure. I jumped straight into multiplayer that time, I lost but I improve quickly. Campaigns are sometimes too slow, you would just be bored.
