One thing we wanted to do as part of Critical Moves is have special guests appear on our show. It was one of the things which featured as part of our initial concept video released back in September (when Critical Moves was just a fleeting idea!). I was always under the impression that if we - a group of ordinary strategy game fans - could get actual real-life game developers to come and speak to us we would have "made it" as a serious podcast.
Fast forward several months and we secured our first interview with Dr. Luke Hughes, the lead developer for Burden of Command. This has already been recorded and is scheduled for release on 28th March 2025. Mark your calendars, and set aside some time as the entire episode comes in at a whopping one hour and forty minutes! Nuno and I quiz Luke on the influences and mechanics for Burden of Command and Dr. Hughes doesn't hold back on giving us a wonderful insight into the making of the game.
